    Questions

    Before we meet.

What do I need to have ready?

An unexpired government photo ID — a driver's license, passport, or state ID. Bring the document, but don't sign it yet. A notary has to watch you sign it. If other people are signing too, they each need their own photo ID.

Can you come to a hospital or nursing home?

Yes, and we do it often. Tell us the room number when you book. The signer needs to be awake, aware of what they're signing, and doing it of their own free will — if they can't understand the document or can't communicate, we can't notarize it, and we'll tell you honestly rather than take your money.

    What can't a notary do?

We can't tell you what a document means, whether you should sign it, or which form you need — that's legal advice, and we're not attorneys. We don't write or fill out your documents for you. What we do is confirm you are who you say you are, watch you sign, and stamp it.

What's an apostille, and what does the state charge?

It's a certificate that makes an Arkansas document acceptable in another country — often needed for a birth certificate, marriage license, or a power of attorney used abroad. Our $200 covers notarizing it and walking it through the Secretary of State. The state's own fee is separate and passed to you at exactly what it costs.

Can you do an I-9 for an out-of-state employer?

Yes. If you've hired someone who lives near us but your office is elsewhere, we meet the new hire, examine their documents in person, and complete Section 2 as your authorized representative. You get the completed form back the same day.

What if you can't notarize it after all?

It happens — a missing ID, a document that needs a different form, or a signer who isn't able to proceed. If we can't complete the notarization for a reason that isn't your fault, we refund the service fee. If we drove out and the signer simply wasn't there, we keep the travel portion. We'll always tell you why.
